Strengthened organizational capacity to improve health outcomes and protect human rights of people who use drugs in EECA

Project goal and objectives: include strengthening the organisational capacity of EHRN, its Steering Committee and the Secretariat to enable them to fully contribute to improving health outcomes and protecting human rights of people who use drugs in the region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. In particular, the project seeks to develop an EHRN Strategic Plan for 2014-2019; develop, introduce and apply an EHRN monitoring and evaluation system, with improved management capacity and strengthened governance; continue efforts to maintain budget diversification and ensure financial sustainability of EHRN; and develop and implement an EHRN communication strategy for 2013-2016.

Key activities: of the project include development of the EHRN Strategic Plan for 2014-2019 through an inclusive, transparent, and responsive process involving all major stakeholders; development of EHRN’s monitoring and evaluation framework and tools to monitor, evaluate and demonstrate EHRN’s impact; organisation of regular meetings of EHRN’s Steering Committee; undertaking the search for potential new donors and improving the Secretariat’s proposal writing capacities; and development of a communications strategy and website.

Expected results: include strengthened organizational capacity of the Network, its Steering Committee, and the Secretariat to contribute to improvements in health outcomes and the protection of the human rights of people who use drugs. In particular, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, governance, fundraising, and communication capacities will all be strengthened.
