Steering Committee

Members of the EHRN Steering Committee are elected for 3 years and work on a voluntary basis.

The EHRN Steering Committee is elected by the members of EHRN, and its functions are regulated by the Steering Committee Statute. Its responsibility is to facilitate the implementation of EHRN's mission by developing and implementing policies, strategies and operational principles. The Steering Committee is formed of elected representatives from all seven EHRN sub-regions, each of whom is elected for three years and serves voluntarily. Additional representatives from communities of people who use drugs are also elected. EHRN’s Steering Committee maintains seats for elected representatives of the drug user activist community and PLHIV in accordance with EHRN’s Statute. The Steering Committee’s Terms of Reference summarizes the responsibilities of the EHRN Steering Committee so that all EHRN members have a clear understanding of the Steering Committee’s areas of responsibility and points of accountability.

The direct engagement of the sub-regional and community representatives is a clear indication that EHRN is governed by its members, thus ensuring that all have a voice in decision-making and priority-setting. The use of sub-regions ensures geographic diversity from across the region in regards to governance.
