Agita Seja has been working in the field of harm reduction since 2002. She has an extensive experience of work and interaction with individuals from all vulnerable HIV groups. She works in three NGOs that specialise in HIV/AIDS: she is the Deputy Chairman of the HIV.LV Union (www.hiv.lv), Coordinator of the Riga harm reduction programme at DIA+LOGS (the HIV/AIDS support centre, www.diacentrs.lv), and she also takes part in projects of the AGIHAS society (www.agihas.lv).
Agita possesses a clear understanding of the aims of harm reduction, sound skills of organising harm reduction programs, and very good theoretical knowledge. She has a rich experience of advocacy on all issues related to the rights of HIV-infected individuals, drug users, sex workers, and gay men and she has worked a lot in Latvian prisons.
Being a practitioner in the area of harm reduction, I will be able to generate numerous benefits for the region, as Europeans are still not sufficiently aware of harm reduction in Latvia.
